Godforsaken, Why? Part I

Godforsaken, Why?

It was such a stigma that prompted a 35-year-old teacher from West Sumatra, known online as “XYZMan,” to start an e-mail mailing list in 2004 to allow atheists to discuss their beliefs. The list now has more than 350 members.

How many atheists in this Indonesia are not easy to find out. Moreover, there is obligation for citizen to believe one of the six main religions existing in Indonesia.
Indeed it seems more secure for us if every person in Indonesia choose one of the six religions.
But if it we thought more, in fact is not that simple. If portion of six religious preach or propaganda is not adequate, that would only produce more hypocrites. Of course this is only an assumption of mine. In this case I only hope that propaganda would be better and covering Indonesian citizen’s needs for preaching.

What could be happen if the religious propaganda is not enough to fulfill demand?

  • On the surface we’ve seen many new religions appear, with their new prophets.
  • In Underground appear Atheist (or atheist milist) as written above because the strict charge made them not dare to show their true face. It is safer to find refugee online mailing list or forum.

Is there other side effect?

Perhaps you can tell?
